Share to Recipe Retriever on iOS
On Android and ChromeOS, the installed Recipe Retriever app shows up automatically in the system share sheet. Apple devices don't support that feature for web apps yet, but you can create a one-time Apple Shortcut that puts Recipe Retriever in your iOS share sheet and works exactly the same.
One-time setup (about 2 minutes)
- Open the Shortcuts app on your iPhone or iPad.
- Tap the + button in the top-right to create a new shortcut.
- Tap the shortcut's name at the top and rename it to Send to Recipe Retriever.
- Tap the small info (i) icon at the bottom and turn on Show in Share Sheet. Under Share Sheet Types, make sure only URLs is selected.
- Add a URL action. In the URL field, paste:
https://reciperetriever.app/?url=
Then tap the field again and append the Shortcut Input magic variable so it looks likehttps://reciperetriever.app/?url=[Shortcut Input]. - Add an Open URLs action below it, and make sure it uses the URL from the previous step.
- Tap Done to save the shortcut.
How to use it
- Find a recipe in Safari, Chrome, Mail, Messages, or any other app.
- Tap the Share button.
- Scroll down and tap Send to Recipe Retriever. The app will open and start parsing the recipe automatically.
Tip: if you've installed Recipe Retriever to your Home Screen, iOS will open the shared link inside the installed app window instead of Safari.
